HistoSonics is a commercial-stage medtech company advancing the Edison® System, a novel non-invasive sonic beam therapy based on histotripsy. Since receiving FDA De Novo grant for the non-invasive destruction of liver tumors in 2023, the company has progressed beyond initial market entry into commercial expansion, reimbursement momentum, and ongoing clinical and pipeline development. In addition to its current liver tumor indication, HistoSonics is pursuing future indications across multiple applications including kidney, pancreas, prostate, neuro, women’s health, and other significant underserved human health areas, to realize the broader potential histotripsy across multiple disease states and medical specialties.

Location: Remote (Contiguous United States)

Travel: 20% (Domestic and International - occasionally including weekends)


Position Summary

The Physician Relations Manager is responsible for building, strengthening, and managing strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinical experts, and influential healthcare professionals who support the adoption, utilization, credibility and market growth of HistoSonics, Inc. This role develops and implements comprehensive engagement strategies, oversees the contracting, payments and reporting processes and ensures all activities comply with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards. The role also works cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Clinical, Legal, and Commercial teams to align engagement initiatives with organizational priorities and ensure seamless, compliant execution across all stakeholder touchpoints.


Responsibilities:

KOL Strategy, Management & Engagement

  • Identify, recruit, onboard and manage KOLs across all specialties and geographies.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy aligned with business and clinical priorities.
  • Build strong, sustained relationships with KOLs, clinical experts, and influential healthcare professionals.
  • Segment KOLs by influence, specialty, and strategic value to optimize engagement plans.

Advisory Boards, Expert Forums & Education

  • Assist in the management of advisory board meetings, roundtables, expert panels, and thought-leadership councils.
  • Coordinate KOL participation in conferences, podium presentations, and scientific symposia.
  • Design and implement a strategy for fellows that align with company objectives that drive awareness within this critical stakeholder group

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, R&D, Clinical Affairs, Education and Medical Affairs to align KOL strategies with company objectives.
  • Ensure consistent communication and alignment across all stakeholder groups regarding KOL activities.
  • Work with internal stakeholders as needed on special projects and workstreams
  • Provide additional business support at the request of HistoSonics leadership.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure regulatory-compliant communication and documentation for all interactions.
  • Maintain strict compliance with industry standards (e.g., AdvaMed), FDA regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manage contracts, honoraria, and documentation for all consulting and speaking arrangements.
  • Track KOL engagement metrics, feedback, and outcomes using CRM systems and reporting tools.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to HIPAA and Sunshine Act

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a medical device or healthcare-related industry, preferably in a Medical Affairs, Marketing or KOL Management role
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM) preferred
  • Experience working with physicians, hospital leaders, or clinicians in a technical or scientific capacity
  • Experience with new product launches and market expansion of novel procedures preferred
  • Ability to work extended hours/weekend hours, as needed.
  • Domestic and International travel may be required
